How AI helps me build client websites

AI can speed up research, content work and technical checks. It does not build the website by itself. The result still depends on the brief, decisions, experience and human review.

I do not use AI instead of thinking

Building a website is not a matter of writing one sentence into an AI tool and waiting for a finished page. The tool does not know the client, their customers or why a specific section should exist. A weak brief usually produces a generic result.

I use it as a fast assistant instead. It can process a lot of material, find repeated information or point out something worth checking. I still decide what belongs on the website and how it should work.

Research and the first project structure

At the start, I need to understand the service, competitors and what visitors will look for. AI can help sort notes, compare common customer questions or suggest an initial list of pages.

That proposal is not automatically correct. Ten suggested pages may be completely unnecessary for a small company. I adjust the structure to the actual content, budget and purpose of the website.

Content without generic filler

Clients often send text through documents, messages or an old website. AI can group it by topic, reduce repetition and show where important information is missing. That can save a lot of manual rewriting.

The final text still needs to sound like a specific business, not a random agency. I rewrite suggestions, verify facts and remove phrases that say nothing. The same applies to headings, calls to action and SEO descriptions.

Code review and technical problems

With WordPress or WooCommerce, AI can explain unfamiliar code, compare two versions of a file or suggest possible causes of an error. It is especially useful when I need to narrow down where a problem starts.

I do not place generated code directly on a live website. First I need to understand what it changes, review it and test it. One apparently small adjustment can affect checkout, a form, mobile layout or another part of the site.

SEO, responsive layout and testing

AI can suggest search terms, page titles or questions a page should answer. It cannot guarantee rankings. SEO also depends on competition, content, technical condition, links and time.

It also helps me prepare checklists for menus, forms, links, content, screen widths and edge cases. I still check the real mobile layout and website functions in a browser, not only through an AI response.

Sensitive data does not belong in AI tools

Privacy matters when working with a client website. I do not submit passwords, API keys, database access, customer personal data or internal communication that is not needed to solve the task.

If I need to analyse an example, I remove sensitive details and keep only the part needed to understand the problem. Working faster is not useful if it creates an unnecessary security risk.

I remain responsible for the result

The client does not receive an automatically generated website without review. AI is one tool, just like WordPress, browser developer tools or a speed test. It helps me work faster, but it does not replace design, experience or decision-making.

The final structure, design, content, technical solution and testing need to work together. If something is broken or does not match the brief, “AI suggested it” is not an excuse.
